Trevor - Our New Family Member

This is our new family member that I promised to post about. This is Trevor the Cat. I know, interesting name. Derek named him. We have this nice neighborhood kid that used to be our home teacher that Derek wanted to name the cat after.
Something funny, Shay was jumping on our trampoline. The neighbor boys were jumping on their trampoline next door. Shay calls out to Trevor (the home teacher) and says "Hey Trevor, guess what our cats name is. She of course tells him. Poor kid, hows he supposed to act when the neighbors cat is named after him. Before this cat we had one named Jacob, named after Derek's friend in Kindergarten.

Some things about Trevor:

*He has a good temperament
*He attacks your feet every night
*Is beloved by all of our kids. Got out last Sunday. I thought Adam was going to fall apart during church, because he was worried that the cat wouldn't come back
*So beloved that the cat can't get a moment to himself. Someones always holding the poor thing.
*Can't decide whether he wants to be inside or outside
*Very active - climbs on the table and counter tops. (gotta love that)
*No one will leave him alone. Kid family members have had some serious scratches all over their bodies
*The cat could have his own scrapbook, because the kids have taken so many pictures of him
(thank goodness its digital)

What was I doing ten years ago - I was working at Mesa Verde Real Estate as a receptionist/secretary. I was large pregnant with Derek - I gained 60 lbs on this pregnancy (I know, bad) Derek wasn't born until October, so I had probably gained 30 lbs at this pt. The same amount of weight that you are supposed to gain during your whole pregnancy.

2. What was on my to-do list today? Getting everyone ready and on time to church this morning. Get Matthew and Adam to stop crying. I think they both have earaches. (Oops, probably shouldn't have taken them to church today) Taking a nap (love Sundays) and fixing dinner.

3. What would I do if I suddenly became a billionaire - Pay off debt, redo kitchen and flooring in my house. Go back to Hawaii and see other islands. Go on a cruise to see Fiji, Tahiti, Tonga, New Zealand and Australia. Share with my family

4. 3 bad habits - Watching TV for long periods of time, making sweets, like brownies and eating most of them, spending hours on the computer instead of cleaning the house.

5. Places I have lived - Seattle, Washington for a short time, Arizona

6. Jobs I've had - Worked at my dads video store, Dairy Queen, Computer Center in College, the Cafe in College, at several day care centers, Map Mobile - a paging service, Mesa Verde Real Estate

7. A few things people don't know about me - It terrifies me to meet new people and have to think what I'm going to say to them. Not so good at small talk. Sometimes I get nervous at Relief Society functions, because I'm nervous about what I'm going to say next. I would rather speak in public. Because at least I can prepare ahead of time what I'm going to say. This has gotten easier with age and forcing myself just to do it.
I love to turn on music and sing and dance.

New Music!

The hubby has been hijacking the blog lately and added all this new music! So enjoy! And who knew, he's been teasing me about this blogging thing forever and now I've got him hooked as an official blog lurker.

Matthew is 3 months old

Matthew turned three months back on June 12th. I didn't post, though, because I was waiting to get a good picture of him. We went to Walmart one day to get his picture taken. The photographer wanted to take a picture of him without his clothes on in a diaper. He was having none of that. I forgot that he really hates having his clothes off. He cries when I take them off, too. Anyway, I took him to Kiddie Kandids today and was pleasantly suprised that the pictures turned out so well, meaning Matthew was actually smiling. He actually does that a lot lately. When we took him to the doctor for his 3 month checkup he really hadn't grown much so the doctor suggested I add cereal to his formula. He's been a happy boy ever since. He's getting to be quite fun. His little personality has come out a lot this month. Derek always seems to get him to laugh. He really enjoys people and has started to talk. He also enjoys facing outwards so he can see whats going on. He loves his siblings and feels sad when they are sad. He just loves watching them run and chase each other. :)

Awww Summer!

We got out of school May 22nd. Lifes been crazy ever since!
We went to Pima the first week we were out of school. We got a new family member. Pictures and a new post to come later.
The kids started swim team two weeks ago. They don't enjoy it, but I do. They are pretty tired afterwards, so I like it.
A new club was formed in our house. Officially titled as the LAS club. Whats that you say? Well Derek came up with this new club. Basically it stands for Look at Shay club. That means Derek and Adam (whose impressionable) chase Shay around the house and stare at her til she screams and cries. Don't you always love those crazy brothers! Now you know why I like swim team, less teasing.
My kids have been teasing the heck out of each other ever since school ended. I know most people go through it. But, I'm really ready to tear out all my hair or theirs! Now, I know why my mom would all of the sudden loose it, when I was growing up. The constant bickering. Mom told you to turn off the tv, no mom told you to turn off the tv. No she didn't she told you No, no no Yes yes yes. This is just one of their fights obviously. You name it they fight over it. I try to make them apologize to one another and make some restitution for the offenses, but the fighting never ends. Does anyone have any suggestions for stopping kids from teasing/fighting. I'm definitely open for suggestions.
Adam started swimming lessons two weeks ago. He was totally scared to death. So the 1st day I didnt make him get in the pool. The next day I decide he's got to get in the pool and my capri pants are soaked. I looked like a crazy person trying to take him in the pool walking in with my clothes on. Where was the baby you say? Off on the side of the pool and the lifeguards were about to call the police on me, because I had left my baby alone. Fabulous mother moment I'm tellin you. I think it was obvious though that I wasnt planning to get in. The next day I wear my swim suit and have Shay sit on the side and watch the baby. (she usually goes to a class). Adam gets in and will only swim to me. I decide bribery is in order. I tell Adam if he gets in by himself, I will give him some M&M's. He gets in the next day all by himself. Yea! He went down the frog slide several times today. The power of M&M's!!

The Trainer Part II

So the trainer has been working out well. I've lost about 12 lbs. working on 15 for this week. Somebody asked me what special things trainers do. If they did special exercises. At the time I said. "Not really, its not much different than going to a gym yourself. But, I would like to change that answer though. I think for me the trainer makes me accountable. There is no way in heck that I would be doing 45 tricep pushups on my own. I hate them. Or jog on the treadmill 5 times a week. Yuck!
The fear of standing on the scale every week and there being no changes. That's what keeps me going. I'm really scared for what he would say. This is where the like/dislike relationship comes with having a trainer. Sometimes I really don't like the guy. I have shin splints forming and some days I have a hard time walking, but I'm still alive and kicking. Thankful to have a body that moves and of course I'm also happy with the results.
I've learned something about myself though during this process. I am really unhappy when I have to count calories. Life too short not to be able to have a chocolate chip cookie once in awhile or chips and salsa at a Mexican food restaurant. Or as of lately eating dinner. I make it for my family and then I usually cant eat it, because I've used up all of my calories for the day. Argh! So after this process is done I will continue to exercise, because I like it and its getting easier. I will definitely eat healthy for the most part. But for me food is all about enjoyment! So I plan to be back eating treats very soon. In moderation of course. So to be the size I was before I had kids would be nice, but I love food way to much :). So I'll settle for losing the baby weight
